Micky & Mike at Jungle Prada’s ‘Sacred Lands’

Mickey came to us looking for a photographer that could work with her unique dream.  As an older couple, and neither party on their first marriage, they weren’t planning a huge affair. But their love was as powerful as any twenty-somethings, and they felt their bond as soul mates deserved to be so celebrated. So she and her partner Mike chose to honor their ancestors with one of the most beautiful fusion wedding ceremonies we’ve been privileged to see, blending elements of western tradition with Hawaiian into an exquisitely lovely ritual.

The wedding ceremony was followed by an intimate reception held on the grounds, a wonderful experience with the jungle ambiance and the wild peacocks roaming through the party. Terribly exotic and romantic!

(And I can’t help but confess that I was drooling over the bride’s shoes, hehehe!)

Altogether this was one of the most unique and wonderful weddings we’ve been privileged to be a part of. Here’s to a lifetime of happiness for Mickey and Mike!

Clift & Jim on Sunset Beach

We were privileged to be there when Clifton and Jim tied the knot in an intimate, breezy wedding ceremony on Sunset Beach, FL. The guys had said they especially loved Tim’s black & white work. (They’d somehow seen ‘Ennui’, his satirical student-film tribute to Jean-Luc Goddard, lol!) So we made sure to give them some gorgeous black & white photos along with their romantic Florida sunset silhouettes. We even set up a bit of special lighting to create this stunning couple’s portrait:

It’s possible to to create beautiful artistic images of your gay wedding, no matter how small, casual or non-traditional it might be.  When there’s this much love and joy filling the hearts of everyone present it’s a pleasure.

There were a few moments of alarm when we thought the power was out and there’s be no lights for the planned after-dark buffet reception. But photo assistant Ian stepped in and saved the day, finding the GFCI reset switch (probably blown by one of our regular Florida afternoon thunderstorms) that let our fairy lights glow.

It was a joyous occasion, with delicious Cuban food and great music, a beautiful sunset and balmy tropical breezes. And a charming couple who so deserve their happily ever after. Congratulations Jim & Clift!

Rainy wedding day = happy marriage

Christy was worried that the Florida afternoon thunderstorm that’d blown in would ruin their Indian Rocks Beach wedding pictures. But Tim, our beachcomber photo guy, knew just how to handle the situation. Why should a little wind stop you from looking beautiful in your wedding photos? And OMG do those stormy skies make a gorgeous background or what!  In the end the dramatic skies went very well with their ‘Rat Pack at the beach’ wedding theme and Christy and Joe were very happy with the romantic images they have to remember their special day.
